Visit of the KRISS Delegation to VNIIM

VISIT OF THE KRISS DELEGATION TO VNIIM

А delegation from the Korean Research Institute of Standards and Science (KRISS) headed by the President of KRISS, Dr. Dae-Im Kang, accompanied by Dr. Hyong-Ha Kim, Director of the Office of Global Partnership, and Dr. You-Kyu Park, Head of the Center for Mass & Related Quantities, visited our Institute from 28 to 29 August 2013, to share information on respective activities of our National Metrology Institutes and to sign the Extension of the MoU. During the visit the Korean delegation attended by Deputy Directors of VNIIM, Dr. Eugene P. Krivtsov and Dr. Yury A. Kustikov, the progress of cooperation between the two institutes under the Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2007 was discussed. Both parties expressed their satisfaction with the results of this cooperation, especially with the successful realization of the contracts related to development of a measurement standard for the electrical power unit and to the development of a standard atomic magnetometer and its delivery to the KRISS. The President of KRISS expressed interest in the future cooperation with VNIIM on development of the “green” laser to equip the KRISS absolute gravimeter, as well as on joint research and development of methods for comparisons of standard aerosol analyzers. The President of KRISS invited the heads of the corresponding laboratories of VNIIM to visit KRISS to make an advanced study of these issues.

In the course of the visit the KRISS delegation was familiarized with the work of some laboratories of the Analytical Department and with the Laboratory of Force. At the end of the visit an excursion to the Memorial Museum of D.I. Mendeleev was conducted for the Korean delegation, during which the President of KRISS signed the Distinguished Visitors Book.
