Appointment of a staff member of VNIIM to the position of JCRB Secretary
Mr. Nikita D. Zvyagin, Head of Legal Metrology Laboratory and Academic Secretary of VNIIM, was chosen by the BIPM (International Bureau of Weights and Measures) to hold the position of the JCRB Secretary (Joint Committee of the Regional Metrology Organizations and the BIPM) for two years starting January, 2017.
The choice was made on the results of the competition among the applicants from National Metrology Institutes of Regional Metrology Organizations. This is the first time a representative of Russian Metrology will take up the duties of this position in the Joint Committee.
The Joint Committee of Regional Metrology Organizations and the BIPM (JCRB), established in 1999, coordinates the interaction between Regional Metrological Organizations and the Head Office of the Metre Convention in the framework of the MRA (Mutual Arrangement on recognition of national measurement standards and of calibration and measurement certificates issued by national metrology institutes) signed in Paris on 14 October, 1999. Among other responsibilities of the JCRB are analysis of CMC claims (Calibration and Measurement Capabilities) from Regional Metrological with a view to their inclusion in the KCDB (Key Comparison Database) maintained by the BIPM and assistance in conducting the key and supplementary comparisons of national standards.
