The 26th National Scientific Symposium “Metrology and Metrology Assurance 2016”

From 7 to 11 September 2016, the city of Sozopol, Bulgaria, hosted the 26th National Scientific Symposium “Metrology and Metrology Assurance 2016”.

Over 100 experts from Bulgaria and other participating countries participated in the Symposium. Its official languages were Bulgarian, English and Russian.

In addition to the plenary sessions, the program included the following sections:

  • General aspects of metrology. Measurement methods. Unity and accuracy of measurements;
  • Measurements in electrical power engineering;
  • Measurement devices and systems;
  • Information and measurement technologies;
  • Measurements in humanities;
  • Measurements in medicine, ecology, biotechnology and sport;
  • Acoustics measurements, vibration measurements and diagnostics;
  • Metrological practice;
  • Metrology research of junior scientists;
  • Quality management and control.

D.I. Mendeleyev Institute for Metrology submitted five reports. At the Plenary session, Dr. Anna G. Chunovkina made a report “Comparative Analysis of Various Approaches to Evaluation of Measurement Accuracy”. The paper of Prof. Igor F. Shishkin “Measurements in the Noosphere”, initially included in the program of the Symposium as a plenary one, was transferred to the Round Table and presented by Dr. Ksenia V. Sapozhnikova, because the author was unable to attend the event in person.

In addition, VNIIM experts presented the following reports:

  • K. Sapozhnikova, A. Pronin, R. Taymanov, R. Kotlyarov, “Metrological Selfcheck in Measuring Transducers of Force”.
  • I. Baksheeva, K. Sapozhnikova, R. Taymanov, I. Danilova, “Development of Measurement Model is an Efficient Method of Cognition”.
  • T. Akimova, K. Chekirda, “Measurements of High Precision Optical Polygons Based on the National Primary Standard for the Unit of Plane Angle”. Dr. Ronald E. Taymanov from VNIIM moderated the Round Table “Metrology -Enigmas and Hypotheses”.

The Proceedings of the Symposium were donated to the VNIIM library. This Symposium, as well as the previous one held in Sozopol, was remarkable for its friendly atmosphere, heated discussions and lots of informal contacts among the participants.

As a result of negotiations with the Chairman of Bulgarian Academic Association of Metrology (BAAM), Prof. H. Radev, a Draft Cooperation Agreement between the Association and VNIIM was drafted. Dr. Anna G. Chunovkina, Head of the Metrology Department of VNIIM, was admitted to the membership of the BAAM at its meeting held during the Symposium.
