A member of VNIIM Dr. S.G. Karshenboim took part in the meeting of the CODATA Task Group on Fundamental Constants (Sevres, BIPM, 28 June 2005) and in the 17-th meeting of the CIPM Consultative Committee for Units (CCU) (Sevres, BIPM, 29 June - 1 July 2005).

Among other questions, the CODATA Task Group discussed the revision of the data relevant for the next adjustment of the fundamental constants and a possible redefinition of the kilogram, ampere and of some other units in terms of the fundamental constants. At the 17th meeting of the CCU, problems related to this possible redefinition of units and to a new edition of SI Brochure were discussed.
