The D.I. Mendeleev All-Russian Institute for Metrology (VNIIM) news

The International Conference "CIMUSET-2005" took place from 12 to 18 September 2005 at the Politecnical Museum (Moscow), in which participated museum specialists from 15 countries (France, Germany, Brazil, Argentina, Japan, Austria, USA, Canada, etc.). Our Institute was represented by Mrs. E.B. Ginak, Director of the Metrological Museum of VNIIM, who lectured on the subject "Convention of the Metre: persons and memorials".

The International Commitee of Science and Technology Museums (CIMUSET) is one of 29 commitees of the International Counsil of Museums (ICOM). It was established in 1948 at the First general Assembly of ICOM. Its members are representatives of 34 countries from all over the world, specialists working at museums representing different branches of science and technology and possessing historically valuable collections, as well as a number of Scientific Centers engaged in popularization of science and technology. An important area of its activity is inculcating in children and youth the interest to and keenness on the latter.
