Measurements of the free fall acceleration
In the period from 31 Oct to 7 Nov 2004 Prof. Dr. Olivier Francis, Scientific Director of the European Center for Geodynamics and Seismology (ECGS), Professor of the University of Luxembourg, worked in VNIIM.
With his participation, measurements of the free fall acceleration using gravimeter FG5 took place.This gravimeter is the most precise in the world, it was used for the first time in Russia. Preliminary results of these measurements show that the accuracy in determination of g was the best obtained in Russia to date.
The measurements were conducted at the gravimetry site of VNIIM "Lomonosov".
